The hotel
Sixty seasons on the bluff.
Howard and Chelle Hulford opened Curtain Bluff in 1962 with twenty-two rooms on a sandy peninsula near Old Road. The site gives two beaches: on the bay side the water lies flat for swimming, on the ocean side the waves come in for surfing. The resort grew to seventy-two rooms over twenty acres, and many guests come back year after year.
In November 2024 Tim and Pat Scott, entrepreneurs from the United Kingdom, took over and kept the staff of 230. A three-year renovation followed, carried out during the seasonal closures. For the 2025 season all forty-two suites were redesigned and the Sea Grape rebuilt around a blue and white mosaic bar. The resort belongs to Relais & Châteaux, and a Bentley now meets guests at the airport.
- Two beaches A calm bay for swimming on one side of the bluff, and surf on the ocean side, a short walk apart.
- Included Meals, snorkelling trips twice a day, kayaks, windsurfing, yoga and afternoon tea are part of the rate.
- Tennis Four championship hard courts, with coaching from the resort's instructors.
