The hotel
A private club turned five-room inn.
Villa 32 began as the private house and club of the businessman Chiu Ming-hung, on the road that climbs through Beitou's hot-spring valley. A tree-lined drive of some forty metres leads to reception, past maples and camphor trees more than a century old. The cellar was once counted among the best wine collections in Taiwan, and its bottles now go with dinner in the dining room or the courtyard.
Beitou has drawn bathers for more than a hundred years, and the house took up that habit. There are only five rooms, Japanese or Western in style, and each draws spring water into its own bath. Beyond the rooms, separate public baths for men and women hold indoor and outdoor pools at several temperatures, with a cold plunge among them. The house joined Relais & Châteaux in 2010, and in 2026 the MICHELIN Guide gave it one Key, one of eight Key hotels in Taiwan.
- A spring in every room All five rooms have their own geothermal bath, fed by Beitou's hot springs.
- The public baths Separate indoor and outdoor pools for men and women, at several temperatures, with a cold pool among them.
- The cellar Wine from a collection once counted among Taiwan's best, poured with modern dishes at The Restaurant.
