The city

Fairways, polo and the Chavón.

Casa de Campo opened in the 1970s with fifty hotel rooms, twenty-two golf villas and four family houses. It has since grown into a private town beside La Romana, with ten restaurants, more than 1,200 homes and its own marina, inside an estate of 7,000 acres.

Golf brings many guests here, on Pete Dye's Teeth of the Dog above all, but the days also run to polo, tennis, shooting and fishing. December to April is the dry season. May and the early autumn are the wettest months, and the heat is greatest from June to October.
