The hotel

Domes over the gulf.

Domes of Elounda is the original hotel of the Greek group Domes Resorts, which now runs it within Marriott's Autograph Collection. Each suite sits under a domed or pyramid ceiling with windows set into it, in white and Aegean blue, on a slope above the bay at Schisma. Across the water, on its islet, lies the Venetian fortress of Spinalonga, and most terraces face it.

There are no ordinary rooms. Every suite, residence and villa comes with a plunge pool or a jacuzzi, and there are villas with kitchens for families. The newest part is Chora, an adults-only wing of stone-built suites with four-poster beds and a pool of its own, and for 2026 the Makris restaurant moved there, closest of all to the island.

  • The beach White sand at the foot of the lawn, run as Vilebrequin La Plage.
  • Soma Spa Built around a seawater pool in black mosaic, with a sauna and hammam.
  • CORE An open-air square of street food, pop-up shops and an outdoor cinema, which won a Paris Design Award in 2020.
