The hotel
The Onassis hotel at Moraitika.
The Miramare was built in the late 1960s for the Onassis family, on the east coast of the island south of Corfu Town. The architect Charalambos Sfaellos drew it in the modernist manner of the day, on land planted with olive trees that are centuries old. It has its own stretch of beach, which on Corfu is rare, and the town is twenty minutes away by sea.
Domes Resorts reopened it in July 2018 after a renovation costing several million euros, keeping the mid-century lines, and on 1 August it became the first Luxury Collection hotel on Corfu. Kristina Zanic Design Consultants did the interiors, in blue, green and cream, with marble bathrooms and pastel-tiled basins. The hotel takes adults only, and its two restaurants cook Corfiot and Mediterranean food.
- Into town by sea The hotel's own yacht reaches Corfu Town in about twenty minutes.
- Private beach A beach reserved for the hotel, two pools, each with its bar, and a rooftop bar above them.
- Soma Spa Treatments with Elemis and Codage products, a hammam, sauna and gym, and yoga on the beach.
