The hotel
Business hotel on the Plateau.
The Novotel stands on Avenue Abdoulaye Fadiga, in the Plateau, the old administrative centre of Dakar, a short walk from the Institut français. Trade listings date the building to 1982 and give it nine floors. Accor places it in the business district, and the Corniche runs along the coast just below, with the ocean on the far side of the road.
Accor rates it four stars and has certified its environmental practices. Rooms face either the city or the sea, and from the sea side the view runs across the water to the island of Gorée, a World Heritage Site since 1978. Below sits a garden with a heated pool and an outdoor bar, used for drinks once the meetings end.
