The hotel
A 1914 name in Gangnam.
The Josun Hotel opened in Seoul in 1914, one of the first luxury hotels in the country; the original lives on as The Westin Josun. In May 2021 its owner, the Shinsegae Group, gave the name to a new flagship south of the river on Teheran-ro, the top label of Josun Hotels & Resorts and the first Luxury Collection hotel in Korea. All 254 rooms and suites look out over the towers of Gangnam.
The Monaco studio Humbert & Poyet mixed French decorative arts with Korean craft. The lobby is black and white marble with a reception desk of green marble and brass, and a brass sculpture climbs the central staircase. The 1914 Lounge & Bar looks back to the old hotel. At the top, on the 36th floor, the sky bar faces the city. The MICHELIN Guide gives the hotel one Key.
- Eatanic Garden Korean tasting menus for about thirty guests, with one MICHELIN star, in a room of aqua green, lacquer and brass.
- The Great Hong Yuan Cantonese cooking under red lacquered arches and walls moulded with ginkgo leaves.
- Pool and deck A heated indoor pool with a deck looking out over the Gangnam skyline, plus a sauna and gym.
