The hotel
A house named after its residents.
The house on Colima street went up around 1900, with the French-style front that still marks much of Roma. Food and Pleasure credits its construction to José de la Lama. A Frenchman named Lebreton and a woman of the Loaeza family lived here later, and so did Guillermo Tovar y de Teresa, the Mexican historian and art collector.
Nima restored it and kept the scale of a private home: four rooms, each named after someone who lived here, and no restaurant downstairs. The MICHELIN Guide gives it one Key for the mix of vintage and modern Mexican design and for service that is personal by necessity. Staff know the neighbourhood and send guests out to eat in it.
- The roof terrace Breakfast is served up here as well as in the café. An honesty bar stays open, with live music on Thursday evenings and a fire pit on Sundays.
- Nima Urban Spa The hotel's own spa, a short walk away, for massages, facials, reiki and private yoga.
- A local guide Staff arrange walking tours, cookery classes and candlelit dinners, and book tables in Roma and Condesa.
Rooms & suites
Four rooms, four former residents.
Each room sleeps two in a king bed, and breakfast is included. Each takes its name and its look from a person tied to the house.
- Suite Suite Tovar y Teresa At the front of the house, with a balcony over the street, a king bed and a monsoon shower. Mr & Mrs Smith rates the front rooms the largest and the calmest.
- Deluxe De la Lama Named after the man who built the house. It looks onto the glass dome over the garden.
- Executive Lebreton and Loaeza Two rooms with balconies facing inwards. Lebreton is done in light tones, Loaeza in wood.
