The hotel
Under the golden sphere.
Al Faisaliah opened in May 2000 beside the tower of the same name, named after King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, as Al Faisaliah Hotel, A Rosewood Hotel. Its neighbour is a tower of glass and steel with a golden sphere near the top, a fixture of the Olaya skyline. Mandarin Oriental took over the management in March 2021, and a renovation of the rooms and public spaces followed.
It reopened on 17 January 2024 as Mandarin Oriental Al Faisaliah, the group's debut in Saudi Arabia. The New York designer Adam Tihany drew the lobby, with azure window panels and a glass-drop chandelier, and the 325 rooms were made lighter and fitted with smart controls. In 2026, the first year of the Saudi selection, the MICHELIN Guide gave it one Key.
- The Globe A restaurant inside the golden sphere of the tower, listed in the MICHELIN Guide, and a fine place for afternoon tea.
- A butler on every booking Every room comes with a 24-hour butler service.
- Separate spas A Ladies' Spa and a Men's Health Club, each with its own indoor pool. The hammam rituals are the thing to book.
