The hotel
A house at the top of a tower.
Swire opened The Upper House on 2 October 2009 in the top floors of a tower at Pacific Place, above the JW Marriott. André Fu designed it to feel like a private residence, in cream and neutral tones with modernist furniture, and chose the art for its ten-storey atrium himself. Every room sits at least thirty-eight floors above the street, and the Admiralty MTR station lies beneath the building.
In October 2025 Swire dropped the article and the hotel became Upper House, now the name of the whole group, with sister hotels in Chengdu and Shanghai. The Hong Kong house placed in the top ten of The World's 50 Best Hotels each year from 2023 to 2025, and holds two MICHELIN Keys. Forbes Travel Guide rates it Four-Star for 2026, and the address on Queensway has not changed.
- Salisterra The restaurant on the 49th floor cooks the food of the South of France and Italy, and serves breakfast à la carte.
- The Lawn An outdoor lawn in the hotel, with free yoga sessions on weekend evenings.
- Size The entry studios measure seventy square metres, with limestone soaking tubs and standing rain showers.
