The city
Walls, salt and seagrass.
Ibiza Town climbs from the port to Dalt Vila, the upper town inside its Renaissance ramparts, which UNESCO listed in 1999 with the Phoenician necropolis of Puig des Molins and the meadows of Posidonia that keep the water so clear. In the south, the salt pans of Ses Salines are a natural park; on the west coast, the rock of Es Vedrà rises out of the sea.
The island lives from May to October, when the days are warm and the sea is at its best from June. Evenings are for the west coast and its sunsets; for dinner there is a small group of serious kitchens, three of them with a MICHELIN star.
Arriving
One runway, two ways in.
Ibiza Airport lies seven kilometres south-west of the town, between the salt pans and the sea.
