The hotel
From Sheraton to Hilton.
The building opened in early 2015 as the Sheraton Dushanbe, the first Starwood hotel in Tajikistan, with 148 rooms and a Presidential Suite on the top floor. Its restaurants were Zaitoun for all-day dining, inAzia for the cooking of Vietnam, Thailand, China and Japan, and Grill@48, named after the street number on Ayni Street, served kebabs and mixed grills. Soho Bar had billiards, darts and sport on television.
In October 2019 it reopened as Hilton Dushanbe with 145 rooms, among them Executive Rooms with access to a lounge and one- and two-bedroom suites. Zaitoun and In Asia kept their names. Two ballrooms share one floor and an outdoor terrace takes up to four hundred guests, and six more rooms take smaller meetings. The airport is about three kilometres away and the railway station about three miles, so the hotel suits a short stay between flights.
