The hotel
The group's first five stars in Cabo Verde.
Oásis Atlântico had been in Cabo Verde for two decades when Salinas Sea opened in September 2013, after several postponements. It was the group's fourth hotel in the country, after hotels on São Vicente and Santiago, and its first with five stars. It opened with 338 rooms and the official site now lists 337, several of them adapted for guests with reduced mobility.
The hotel sits on Santa Maria beach next to its older sister, the Oásis Belorizonte, and the town is a ten-minute walk along the shore. Days are built around the pool and the sand. Evenings bring shows and live music, and there are lessons in Creole and workshops in traditional dance and capoeira for guests who want them.
- On Santa Maria beach The hotel opens onto the sand, with a beach bar by day and Santa Maria ten minutes away on foot.
- Around the clock All-inclusive runs 24 hours, and Bar Ponton serves drinks all night with snacks after eleven.
- Cape Verdean evenings Creole lessons, dance and capoeira workshops, and live Cape Verdean music in some of the bars.
