The hotel

A teardrop on the Red Sea.

Kempinski opened its Aqaba hotel on 1 June 2009, its third in Jordan after Amman and the Dead Sea. All three belong to the United Saudi Jordanian Hotels & Tourism Company. The site is on King Hussein Street, in the town itself, with three acres of gardens running down to the shore. It opened in stages that summer, and the spa and some of the restaurants followed in October.

The architects bent the building into a curve, shaped like a teardrop, so that every room looks straight out over the water of the gulf. Below it lie a private beach of white sand and an infinity-edge pool. The spa takes up two floors, its windows facing the Red Sea.

  • Private beach White sand reserved for guests, with yacht trips and water sports from the shore.
  • The spa A spa set over two floors, with views across the Red Sea.
  • Infinity pool An infinity-edge pool above the beach, served by the Nasma Pool Bar.
