The hotel

Tales of the east on the Red Sea.

Al Manara opened in October 2018 as the first Luxury Collection hotel in Jordan, built by Eagle Hills Jordan as part of Saraya Aqaba, a new quarter on the shore around a man-made lagoon. Rose-red mountains rise behind it, and the Gulf of Aqaba lies in front. It was the developer's second hotel with Marriott, after W Amman, and the Westin next door followed.

The interiors, by Samuel Creations and MMac Associates, take their cue from Middle Eastern storytelling. Arabesque patterns run through the manor house, and the rooms have dark wood inlaid with mother-of-pearl, brass-topped tables and fabrics woven by local families. Every room has a balcony and glass from floor to ceiling.

  • Private beach A stretch of Red Sea shore kept for guests, with the Saraya Beach Club and waterpark close by.
  • Lagoon terraces The spa and the terrace of Kubba Levantin look straight over the Saraya Aqaba Lagoon.
  • Heavenly Spa Eight treatment rooms, a room for couples, and separate saunas for men and women.
