The hotel
Between the lake and the cliff.
Villa Làrio opened in 2015 on the eastern shore of the Como arm, a few minutes on foot from the ferry stop at Pognana. The heart of it is Il Palazzo, a classical villa of the nineteenth century set right on the water, with a frescoed loggia and a cedar garden. It was fully restored in 2020 and holds most of the suites, up to the Penthouse.
Above it, Villa Bianca sits on the cliff with the infinity pool and the restaurant. The Pavilion, a separate villa of 120 square metres with two bedrooms, stands on the cliff too, and one more suite has a house of its own in the garden. About two acres of gardens run down to a private pier, where guests swim or step onto a Riva.

Getting there
Flying to Como.
Milan Malpensa, the usual airport for scheduled flights and private jets, is about an hour and a half by road, our estimate; Linate takes a little less. The hotel can arrange a paid transfer from either. The hotel's boat taxi also runs to Como, for those who prefer to finish the trip on the water.
