The hotel
A family house with a small sign.
The palazzo stands inside the medieval walls of Como, a short walk from the Duomo, and dates from the fifteenth century. The family who own it still live there. Maximiliano and Lidia turned part of their home into a hotel with help from their children, who trained as architects. Only a small sign by the door tells passers-by it is there.
Inside, old stone, exposed beams and working fireplaces sit beside polished concrete floors, vintage pieces and modern art. Each room has a name: Rosa, Tabacco, Ocra, the small La Verda, and La Granda, a suite on a mezzanine. There is a courtyard garden and an honesty bar, and in the evening the kitchen cooks one menu for guests, served outside when the weather allows.
- One menu a night A daily chef's menu for hotel guests, cooked with produce from the town market and served in the old stone dining room or outdoors in summer.
- The old town on foot The Duomo, the Pinacoteca Civica and the funicular up to Brunate are all a short walk away, and the lake front is close.
- Bicycles The hotel lends bicycles for exploring the town and the lake shore.
