The hotel
A belle époque villa facing Bellagio.
The Victoria went up in the late nineteenth century as a neoclassical villa with Liberty details, built for the aristocratic families who spent their summers on the lake. It stands on the shore at Menaggio, a hundred metres from the town centre, on a calmer stretch of the western bank with Bellagio straight across the water. The ferry pier is about 700 metres away.
A two-year renovation led by the architect Franco Pè restored the old Villa and joined it to a new Palazzo. The hotel belongs to R Collection Hotels, a family-owned group whose Royal Victoria stands across the lake in Varenna. The names inside come from Manzoni's The Betrothed, published in 1827 and set on this lake: the 1827 restaurant, and the Manzoni and Griso bars.
- Erre Spa 1,200 square metres with an indoor heated pool, Finnish and infrared saunas, a Himalayan salt room, a Kneipp path and an ice room.
- Victoria Beach Club The hotel's lido, about 300 metres along the shore, with a pool, loungers and direct access to the lake.
- Across the lake Bellagio and Varenna are a short boat ride away, and the ferry pier in Menaggio is a few minutes' walk.
