The hotel

A Grand Tour hotel on the western shore.

Enea and Maria Gandola opened the hotel in 1910, hoping to put Lake Como on the route of the Grand Tour. It sits on the shore at Tremezzo, facing the Grigne mountains at the point where the lake splits into its two southern arms. The park around it was once the botanical garden of Villa Carlotta, its neighbour. The hotel still keeps a season, from about mid-March to late October.

The De Santis family bought the hotel in 1975 and still own it. There are now three pools, one of them floating on the lake, and a spa with hammams in Lasa marble. A few minutes away by car or boat, Villa Sola Cabiati, with a history going back to the sixteenth century, can be taken whole, six suites and its own staff.

  • Water On the Water A pool floating on the lake in front of the hotel's private beach, with Giacomo al Lago serving lunch beside it.
  • T Spa Treatments with Santa Maria Novella of Florence, Turkish hammams in Lasa marble and an infinity pool over the lake.
  • Villa Sola Cabiati Six suites in a villa a few minutes away, booked as a whole with private staff.
