The hotel
Lotte Hotel Seoul, renamed.
Lotte bought the Bando Hotel, the first commercial hotel in Korea, and in 1979 opened Lotte Hotel Seoul in Sogong-dong, on the edge of Myeongdong. At 38 storeys it was then the tallest building in the country. An Executive Tower was added later, and over the years the hotel received heads of state, with Myeongdong and the Lotte Department Store at its door.
In May 2025 work began on the guest floors of the main tower, from the 7th to the 21st, and lasted about fifteen months. The French designer Pierre-Yves Rochon redrew the rooms, and 737 became 590 larger ones. On 14 August 2026 the hotel took a new name, The Grand Lotte Seoul, the first change since it opened and Lotte's first new luxury brand since SIGNIEL in 2017.
- Pierre Gagnaire à Séoul The French chef's Seoul restaurant, on the 35th floor of the Executive Tower.
- Mugunghwa Modern Korean cooking based on the court recipes of the Joseon kings.
- Myeongdong at the door Lotte Department Store and the shops of Myeongdong are next door; the old palaces are a few minutes away by taxi or metro.

- Main Tower Rooms and suites Redesigned by Pierre-Yves Rochon and reopened in August 2026, with French craftsmanship and Korean details.
