The hotel
The lobby on the top floor.
Park Hyatt Seoul opened in April 2005 on the corner of Teheran-ro and Yeongdong-daero, across the road from the COEX convention centre. The tower has 24 storeys and only ten rooms on each floor. Arrival works upside down: the lift takes you straight to the 24th floor, where reception, The Lounge and the pool share the views over Gangnam and the business district.
The Japanese studio Super Potato designed the interiors around four materials: wood, stone, glass and daylight. Walls are panelled in pale Myanmar oak, bathtubs are cut from granite, and in many rooms the bathroom takes up a third of the floor space. The Park Club spa and gym fill the 23rd and 24th floors, with three treatment rooms, saunas and plunge pools. Forbes Travel Guide rates the hotel four stars.
- The 24th floor Reception, The Lounge and an indoor infinity pool share the top of the tower, looking out over Gangnam.
- The Timber House A basement bar built of wood, with vinyl records, DJs, sushi, sake and cigars.
- Opposite COEX The COEX convention and exhibition centre is directly across the road, in the business heart of Gangnam.
