The hotel

Murals in a mid-century landmark.

The hotel occupies part of Conjunto Aristos, a building José Luis Benlliure and Manuel Klaschky designed in the middle of the last century, faced in white stone brought from Oaxaca. It was one of the first mixed-use buildings in the city, and locals still talk about the Sanborns inside it. Restoration was carried out with the help of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes, and the complex now goes by the name 1421.

Ennismore opened its first Mondrian in Latin America here in 2023. The artist Ara Starck painted a mural for every room, drawing on the old aqueduct that survives a few blocks away on Avenida Chapultepec. In the patio, a restored mosaic shows the Panathenaic procession, and a four-metre replica of La Giganta by José Luis Cuevas looks over the tables and the bar.

  • Ara Starck murals No two rooms are the same: each carries its own mural, inspired by the old aqueduct of Chapultepec.
  • La Terraza The open-air patio bar, with fireplaces and heaters for cool highland evenings, bar snacks and classic cocktails.
  • Art on the first floor A gallery programmed by Hilario Galguera sits inside the hotel, and Roma and Condesa begin at the door.

Does the hotel accept pets?
Yes. Pets are welcome, and the hotel has a dedicated pet stay package. Conditions are confirmed at booking.

At Toluca. General aviation is barred from Benito Juárez International, so private flights use Toluca, about an hour to an hour and a half from Condesa by road, our estimate.
