The hotel
A grand hotel on the Mauritius spring.
The Grand Hotel des Bains was built in 1864 around the Mauritius spring, a carbonated, iron-rich source whose discovery had started spa tourism in St. Moritz Bad, the lower half of the resort. Guests can still taste the water at a fountain in the spa, and a longevity clinic opened beside the old spring in December 2025. From outside, the building looks like an Italian palazzo, with turrets and blue shutters.
Kempinski reopened it in December 2002 after fourteen months of work. Since 2022 the lobby, the bar and the main restaurant have been redone, and a third phase finished in December 2025 brought the count of renovated rooms and suites to 151. The Signalbahn starts across the street, the Hahnensee run comes down to the door, and cross-country trails leave from the park for the lakes and forests of the Engadin.
- Alpine Spa About 2,800 square metres, fed by the spring, with a heated indoor pool, an outdoor pool, saunas, a Kneipp garden and a gym.
- Skis on at the door The hotel stands at the foot of the Signalbahn, with ski-in, ski-out access to the Corviglia and Corvatsch areas.
- Image Regenerative Institute Longevity medicine and aesthetics, opened in December 2025 on the site of the old Mauritius spring.
