The hotel
A family palace since 1896.
Caspar Badrutt took the Hotel Beau Rivage and had the architects Chiodera und Tschudi rebuild it as the Palace, which opened on 29 July 1896. His son Hans took over two years later, and the family has run it since, apart from a spell under Rosewood management between 1999 and 2003. Caspar's grandsons Andrea and Hansjürg later ran it together. Anikó Badrutt, Hansjürg's wife, is the majority shareholder today.
The tower burnt down in 1967 and was rebuilt the next year. Up to eighty per cent of the heat now comes from lake water. In 2025 a new Serlas Wing by Antonio Citterio opened, and the old farmhouse in the village, the Chesa Veglia, holds three restaurants and a bar. The Gault&Millau guide named the Palace its Hotel of the Year for 2026.
- Chesa Veglia A farmhouse of the seventeenth century in the village centre, with three restaurants, Italian, French and Swiss, and a bar.
- Palace Wellness Rebuilt between 2008 and 2010, with an indoor infinity pool and a heated outdoor pool, new in 2024.
