The architects drew its outline from desert dunes and from the first Arabic letter of King Abdullah's name, and the building connects to the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Mosque.
Its core is the Princess Nouf International Convention Centre: about 8,500 square metres, seventeen meeting rooms and a grand ballroom for up to four thousand guests. Alongside it are 388 rooms and suites, and Thurya, the signature restaurant, cooks Lebanese food. The hotel is still in its soft opening.
