The hotel
On the Kowloon waterfront since 1981.
The hotel opened on 18 September 1981 as Holiday Inn Harbour View, a joint venture between K. Wah Group, its developer, and Holiday Inn. It stands at 70 Mody Road in Tsim Sha Tsui East, on land facing Victoria Harbour, eighteen floors high, with the towers of Hong Kong Island across the water. When IHG bought the building it took the InterContinental name and became the InterContinental Grand Stanford.
Much of its trade is business travel, and the awards follow it. The World Travel Awards named it Hong Kong's Leading Business Hotel three years running, and in 2016 the World's Leading Luxury Business Hotel. The Star Ferry, the MTR and the high-speed railway to mainland China are all within walking distance, and a free shuttle runs to K11, Harbour City and the West Kowloon Cultural District.
