The hotel
A working farm in the coffee country.
Hacienda Bambusa stands on a working farm in the Quindío valley, 9 kilometres along the El Caimo road out of Armenia, and it is the only hotel for miles. The house is a traditional two-storey villa of the region, built of bamboo with a clay-tiled roof, and it has been restored and renovated.
The estate covers about 250 acres of bamboo, pineapple, citrus and cacao. Inside, the walls are whitewashed clay, the ceilings bamboo and the shutters wooden. Each suite opens onto the balcony that runs round the house, with a hammock and a view over the garden, the pool or the Andes.

Flying to Salento.
El Edén airport at Armenia is about 22 kilometres away, 20 to 30 minutes by car, with domestic flights from Bogotá and Medellín. A private jet arriving from abroad clears customs at Pereira, about an hour and a half away by road by our estimate, or continues to Armenia once inside Colombia.
