The hotel
Three generations of one family.
The story starts with Marie O'Sullivan, who came to Killarney at fourteen to work in her aunt's guest house and bought it during the Second World War. That house grew into The Ross. Her son Padraig and his wife Janet ran it, and in 1990 Padraig bought a site a little further down the street. The Killarney Park went up there in the 1990s.
Their son Marcus now runs the hotel, and his parents are still on site most days. The name refers to Killarney National Park, a short walk away. In 2025 a renewal of the rooms, suites and gardens began, with panoramic wallpapers drawn from old watercolours of the park. The dining room became The Peregrine in 2022. The hotel is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
