The hotel

The Byblos, reborn.

The hotel opened in 1986 as the Byblos, a celebrity address of the late twentieth century in the hills of Mijas, about three kilometres from the coast, with two golf courses next door. The architects Esteva i Esteva later redesigned it, and it reopened in 2022 as La Zambra, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. The new name is taken from flamenco.

The plan follows a cloister: courtyards, arches and fountains under palms and cypresses, with pools between them. Every room has its own terrace, and the suites look to the mountains or the golf. In August 2026 Grupo Hesperia bought the resort, keeping the name and the Hyatt brand. Its 2026 season opened in April, with executive chef Juanjo Solano cooking at Palmito and Picador.

  • Golf on two sides The resort sits between two courses by Robert Trent Jones, with about a dozen more within reach in Mijas.
  • Mood Spa About 2,000 square metres, with a Turkish bath, a sauna, whirlpools and twelve treatment rooms.
  • The Penthouse The top-floor suite has three terraces, a wine cellar and a heated pool of its own.
