The hotel

An Andalusian estate built for golf.

Finca Cortesin opened in 2009 on more than 215 hectares of hillside between Estepona and Sotogrande, a mile or so inland from the sea. From outside it reads as a traditional Andalusian farmhouse under red roof tiles. The interiors follow the late Duarte Pinto Coelho, with doors from an old Portuguese monastery, olive trees centuries old and a collection of antiques. The beach club stands down on the bay of Casares.

Cabell B. Robinson laid out the eighteen holes, which staged the Volvo World Match Play in 2009, 2011 and 2012, and in 2023 the Solheim Cup between the women of Europe and the United States. The Jack Nicklaus academy teaches on site, and a spa of more than 2,200 square metres serves everyone else. Two outdoor pools, a 25-metre indoor pool and tennis courts complete the estate, and sixteen Golfside villas stand beside the fairways.

  • The course Eighteen holes by Cabell B. Robinson among old olive trees, host of the 2023 Solheim Cup, with a Jack Nicklaus golf academy.
  • The spa More than 2,200 square metres with thermal baths, a saltwater pool and a 25-metre indoor pool, plus a yoga and meditation centre.
  • Beach club A short drive down on the bay of Casares, with a 35-metre infinity pool, shaded loungers and Mediterranean cooking.
