The hotel
The golden spire, rebuilt.
Thanphuying Chanut Piyaoui opened the Dusit Thani on 27 February 1970, opposite Lumpini Park on Rama IV Road. It was her second hotel, after the Princess on Charoen Krung. Yozo Shibata, who had worked on Tokyo's Hotel Okura, designed a tower of 23 storeys topped with a golden spire, for a time the tallest building in the city. It had 517 rooms and gave its name to a Thai hotel group.
The hotel closed on 5 January 2019 and was taken down to make way for Dusit Central Park, a development of hotel, homes, offices and shops built with Central Pattana. The new Dusit Thani opened on the same site on 27 September 2024, with 257 rooms and interiors by André Fu. The MICHELIN Guide gave it one Key in 2025 and raised it to two in 2026.
- Lumpini Park Every bedroom looks over the park, and a trainer will take you for a run round it.
- Spire The rooftop bar, with a view all the way round the city.
- Linked up Direct access to the BTS at Sala Daeng, the MRT at Silom and the Central Park mall.
