The hotel

From Stéphanie-les-Bains to the Oetkers.

On 21 October 1872 Anton Alois Brenner, court tailor in Baden-Baden, bought the Stéphanie-les-Bains on Lichtentaler Allee at auction. His son made it the leading grand hotel in town, and the King of Siam held court there in 1895. In 1941 Rudolf-August Oetker bought it, the first of what became Oetker Collection. In February 1962 the talks that led to the Franco-German friendship treaty were held under its roof.

The main building closed in October 2023 for two years of work overseen by Countess Bergit Douglas, Oetker's daughter, with the Frankfurt studio MM Design. Original staircases, doors and window frames stayed; the nineteenth-century brickwork on the east side came to light for the first time. The hotel reopened in 2025, and in 2026 the MICHELIN Guide gave it two Keys.

  • Villa Stéphanie The spa opened in this historic villa in the grounds in 2015, alongside Brenners Medical Care for health programmes.
  • The park and the Oos A private park runs down to the river, and on warm days the pool terrace opens straight onto it.
  • Parkvilla A private residence of 600 square metres in the grounds, with several terraces and a garden of its own.
